The University of Mumbai has rescheduled several exams for its online and distance learning programs due to the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra. In a notification released on October 18, the university announced that exams scheduled for November 19 and 20 will now be held on November 30 and December 7, respectively. The timings and venues for the exams will remain unchanged.
In addition, the university has extended the admission deadlines for various undergraduate and postgraduate online and distance learning courses. First-year admissions for MMS programs have been extended until October 30. The admissions for the PG Diploma in Financial Management (Session 1 and 2) have also been extended.
Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government has announced that the Maharashtra State Skills University (MSSU) will be renamed in honor of the late industrialist Ratan Tata, who passed away on October 9. This decision follows a proposal by the Maharashtra Cabinet to recommend Tata for the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.
“Ratan Tata’s invaluable contributions to India’s industrial growth, his promotion of employment and support for innovation, resonate with the vision of MSSU,” said Dr. Apoorva Palkar, Vice-Chancellor of MSSU. The renaming of the university is a tribute to Tata’s legacy in advancing the nation’s development.
