The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced a reduction in the qualifying cut-off percentile for the 2024 National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Master of Dental Surgery (NEET MDS). The cut-off has been lowered by 21.692 percentile points for all categories, including General, SC, ST, OBC, and UR-PWD.
For General (UR/EWS) candidates, the cut-off has dropped from 50 to 28.308 percentile. Candidates from SC, ST, OBC, and PWD categories will now need to meet an 18.308 percentile, down from the previous 40. Meanwhile, the UR-PWD cut-off has been revised from 45 to 23.308 percentile.
An official statement confirmed that a revised result reflecting the new cut-off will soon be published. Initially, the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) released the NEET MDS results on April 3, after conducting the exam on March 18.
This reduction will increase the number of students eligible for postgraduate dental programs, prompting the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) to reopen registration for the 2024 NEET MDS counselling process.
