JAIN Online, the e-learning division of JAIN (Deemed-to-be University), has entered the digital credential realm through a collaboration with CertOnce, a multinational company based in the United States (US) specialising in digital records management solutions. Together, they have introduced Blockchain Secured Degrees for the inaugural graduating class of January 2021, according to an official release.

The launch of this initiative took place during a felicitation ceremony on Saturday, January 6th, dedicated to celebrating the achievements of learners from the January 2021 batch across the country. The partnership between JAIN Online and CertOnce aims to establish a robust document gateway using dedicated blockchain-secured certificates, the release mentioned.

“In today’s landscape, digital certificates are indispensable as they offer multiple layers of assurance, flexibility, validity, trust, and reliability for students, institutions and businesses alike. This forward-thinking initiative is a reflection of JAIN Online’s commitment to excellence and innovation,” Chenraj Roychand, chancellor, JAIN (Deemed-to-be University) and founder, JAIN Group, said.

Jain Online claims that this effort not only facilitates real-time verification but also represents a significant step towards sustainability by reducing paper usage. The blockchain-secured degree certificates ensure global acceptance, provide instant verification and enable seamless online sharing, all while maintaining their tamper-proof nature and upholding the integrity and security of digital credentials, as per the release.

“Making the course look like a luxury programme was important for us to stand out in a crowded market. Where the institutions are distributing degrees, we have been able to create a great student experience using CertOnce’s blockchain-secured certificates. Together with JAIN Online, we are setting a strong example for other institutions to follow in adopting blockchain-based solutions to better serve the needs of online learners and faculty alike,”  Pawan Khurana, COO, CertOnce, said.

Furthermore, CertOnce specialises in state-of-the-art blockchain-secured digital records, offering security against tampering. Their expertise extends across various sectors, safeguarding digital credentials related to education, government, workplaces and the health sector, it added.
