The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on Monday announced that its students have secured 1,275 job offers, including pre-placement offers (PPOs), with over 1,140 individual students placed. This is marginally better than last year when the recruiters offered over 1,200 jobs for the undergraduate and postgraduate students the institute.

As per the institute, some 27 recruiters made double-digit offers on campus this year, including Amazon, American Express, Eternal Limited, Google, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Meesho, Microsoft, Oracle, Qualcomm, Schlumberger, and Wells Fargo International Solutions. This is slightly better than last year when just 23 recruiters made double-digit offers.

Number of PPOs

Further, the institute said that over 300 PPOs were received this year, which is 33% more than the last year. PPOs are jobs offered to interns for full-time positions after graduation. Students opting for PPOs are typically not allowed to participate in the final placements. Students at IIT Delhi also received 35-plus international offers this year from organisations across based in Japan, Netherlands, Singapore, the UAE and the UK. It’s a bit lower than 50-plus international offers from 15 recruiters in the 2024-25 placement season.

Naresh V. Datla, professor-in-charge of the Office of Career Services (OCS) at IIT Delhi said that the consistent performance of the students reflects their academic rigour, adaptability, and readiness for industry challenges. “We thank our recruiting partners for their continued trust and congratulate our students for their dedication and resilience,” he said.

Length of the placement drive

IIT Delhi officially began its placement season for academic year 2025-26 on December 1, but the placement drive will continue till May-end, with OCS hosting additional companies in the coming days. “OCS continues to strengthen collaborations with diverse set of recruiters and job roles and expect more companies to recruit in the upcoming phase of the placement season to support our students’ job aspirations,” said Suresh Neelakantan, co-professor-in-charge of the OCS.

In early December, IIT Kanpur kicked off its campus placement season with 672 job offers on the first day of the placement, which was 16% higher than the first-day placement last year. Similarly, IIT Roorkee’s this year’s placement season started with 555 offers made by 116 companies – including 8 international offers – over the first two days. Other prominent IITs – Bombay and Madras – are conducting their placements currently with IIT Madras reporting over 300 companies registering for the campus placement this year.
