Mumbai-based logistics MNC Allcargo has started the case study competition LogicOn with IIM Mumbai (formerly NITIE) to build a management talent pool. LogicOn will provide first- and second-year MBA students an opportunity to transform their ideas into solutions for real-world logistics challenges. Besides cash prizes, winners will secure summer internships and pre-placement interviews with CXOs at Allcargo.
“Logistics needs a rich talent pool, but isn’t able to attract the brightest, as it’s largely unorganised,” Shashi Kiran Shetty, chairman of Board of Governors, IIM Mumbai, and chairman & founder, Allcargo Group, told FE. “The opportunity to learn and grow in the logistics industry is huge, and with LogicOn we will be able to attract and invest in bright talent who can be a part of our growth journey.”
Prof Manoj Tiwari, the director of IIM Mumbai, added that LogicOn’s debut on IIM Mumbai’s talent engagement and hiring platform Unstop has amassed more than 1.5 million impressions and 7,000 registrations. “Over 70% of registrations have come from renowned tier-1 and tier-2 management institutions, including other IIMs, IMTs and NMIMS,” he said.
The grand finale of LogicOn will be held at IIM Mumbai on November 1, 2023.
“Logistics market in India is expected to increase to $563 billion by 2030 from $274 billion in 2022 at a compound annual growth rate of 9.4%,” added Shetty. “The government’s policy impetus and capex push to build a robust logistics infrastructure as well as enhance logistics competitiveness are acting as a trigger for logistics companies to build next-gen talent pools.”
