Senior Haryana Minister Anil Vij has become the centre of attention in the state after the BJP issued a show cause notice to him on Monday for repeatedly targeting Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and state party chief Mohan Lal Badoli.
When asked about the notice by reporters on Tuesday, Vij humorously replied, “I have just returned from Bengaluru. ‘Thande paani se nahaoonga, roti khaoonga, baith kar main jawab likh doonga… (I will go home first, take a cold water bath, eat roti, sit down and write my reply… and will send it to the high command.)”
The show cause notice, issued by Haryana BJP chief Badoli, addressed the minister’s recent public comments criticizing both the state party president and the chief minister’s role. It stated, “Your statements against the state president and the chief minister are serious and violate party policy and internal discipline.”
Vij, 71, a seven-time MLA from Ambala Cantonment, has been consistently critical of Chief Minister Saini. However, Saini downplayed the tensions, suggesting that as a senior leader, Vij has the right to express his views.
Recently, Vij stirred controversy by sharing photos, claiming that individuals seen with a “friend” of Saini had also been spotted with an Independent candidate he defeated in the 2024 state assembly elections.
Vij secured his seventh term in the October 2024 elections, winning from the Ambala Cantonment constituency against Independent candidate Chitra Sarwara.
