Tarak Mehta, best known for his Gujarati column, Duniya Ne undha Chasma and a tv series based on the same, Tarak Mehta ka Oolta Chasma passed away on Wednesday morning at the age of 87 due to prolonged illness. The writer, humorist and playwright would be best remembered by this generation for the tv series Tarak Mehta Ka OOlta Chasma, which had been based on his column and later went on to become the flagship show on Sab TV. Mehta has published about 80 books reportedly based on his columns for Gujarati Daily, Divya Bhaskar. He had been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in the year 2015.
