West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has spoken out against the expulsion of Trinamool Congress leader as a Member of Parliament in Lok Sabha. Vehemently backing her party leader, who was expelled from the Lok Sabha in the cash-for-query row through a voice vote, Mamata lashed out at the BJP for “betraying democracy, committing injustice, and engaging in vendetta politics”.
“They (BJP) killed democracy… It is injustice. Mahua will win the battle. The people will give justice. They (BJP) will be defeated in the next election,” she said addressing reporters.

“Today, I am sad to see the attitude of the BJP party…How they betray democracy…They didn’t allow Mahua to explain her stand. Full injustice has been done,” she added.
The West Bengal CM further claimed that the INDIA bloc of Opposition parties will join hands to battle against the injustice meted out to Moitra.
“I don’t understand how the (Parliament) members will go through these 495 pages within half an hour and how all the speakers will take a decision. I congratulate the INDIA alliance for being united, and we will fight back. In this case, Mahua is a victim of the circumstances. I strongly condemn this and the party completely stands with Mahua,” says West Bengal CM on the expulsion of TMC leader Mahua Moitra from the Lok Sabha for ‘unethical conduct’.
“She (Moitra) will return to Parliament with a bigger mandate. The BJP thinks the party can do whatever it wants as they have a brute majority. They must keep in mind that a day might come when they may not be in power,” added Banerjee.
After the expulsion, Moitra criticised the ethics committee for ‘acting without proof’ and said the panel was becoming a ‘weapon’ to ‘bulldoze’ the Opposition. Speaking to reporters after being expelled as an MP, Moitra alleged the ethics committee and its report ‘broke every rule in the book.’
