India is celebrating its 76th Republic Day on Sunday, January 26, 2025, with the grand parade at Kartavya Path taking center stage in the celebrations. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the implementation of India’s Constitution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar, and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge have all sent their Republic Day greetings to the nation.

Ahead of the Republic Day parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to martyrs at the National War Memorial, honoring those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, the Chief Guest for the occasion, will witness the parade, with military contingents from Indonesia participating in the march-past at Kartavya Path.

In preparation for the grand event, Delhi has been placed on high alert, with over 70,000 police personnel deployed across the city. Around 10,000 special guests from various fields have been invited to watch the parade as it unfolds on Kartavya Path.

This year’s parade features 31 tableaux representing different states and services, showcasing the theme ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas.’ A special tri-service tableau will be displayed for the first time, symbolising the spirit of unity and integration among the Armed Forces. Additionally, more than 5,000 artists will perform, covering the entire length of Kartavya Path, adding cultural vibrancy to the celebrations.

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be the Chief Guest this year, accompanied by military contingents from Indonesia participating in the march-past along Kartavya Path.

Approximately 10,000 special guests from various walks of life have been invited to attend the parade, which will showcase 31 tableaux from states and services, themed ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’. For the first time, a tri-service tableau will highlight the spirit of jointness and integration within the Armed Forces. Guests will also enjoy a cultural performance featuring over 5,000 artists, spanning the entire Kartavya Path for the first time.

Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw hosted a lunch for them at Akashwani Bhawan, calling it a joyous occasion. "It's a matter of great happiness that those mentioned in Prime Minister Modi's 'Mann ki Baat' programme are here for the Republic Day celebrations," Vaishnaw said.

Republic Day 2025 Parade Live Updates: In a first, tricolour unfurled at Tral Chowk

Tral Chowk in Pulwama district, Jammu and Kashmir, witnessed a historic moment on India’s 76th Republic Day as the Indian national flag was unfurled for the very first time. The flag-raising ceremony was conducted jointly by an elderly citizen, a youth and a child.

The event drew an impressive crowd of over 1,000 attendees, with youth making up the majority. Chants of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and patriotic songs reverberated across the town. This milestone represents a significant shift for Tral, a region previously associated with unrest, as it now seemingly embraces peace, progress and national integration.

At the zero-point of the Fulbari Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal's Jalpaiguri district, the Border Security Force (BSF) marked the occasion by sharing sweets and warm greetings with the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).

Similarly, in the scenic Panitanki region of Darjeeling, Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel celebrated the day by exchanging sweets with Nepal Police officers at the Indo-Nepal border.
