Ranchi Election result 2024 Highlights: BJP’s CP Singh claims victory with 21,949-vote margin over JMM’s Mahua Maji

BJP candidate Chandreshwar Prasad Singh is currently leading with 101,680 votes, ahead of Mahua Maji of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, who has secured 82,294 votes, marking a difference of 19,386 votes.

Chandreshwar Prasad Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party leads with 61,748 votes, commanding a significant margin of 35,284 votes over Mahua Maji of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, who trails with 26,464 votes.

Chandreshwar Prasad Singh of the Bharatiya Janata Party leads with 43,584 votes, securing a dominant margin of 32,913 votes over Mahua Maji of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, who stands at 10,671 votes.

Chandreshwar Prasad Singh, popularly known as C. P. Singh, is a veteran BJP leader and six-time MLA, representing the Ranchi assembly seat since 1996. The 69-year-old former minister, renowned for his long-standing political career, is now contesting for an unprecedented seventh term. Despite his stronghold on the constituency, Singh faced a tough challenge in 2019, narrowly defeating JMM’s Mahua Majhi by a margin of just over 5,000 votes.

Yesterday, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also called for heightened alertness. In a post on X, he appealed to all JMM and INDIA bloc members, urging them to stay vigilant and participate fully in the counting process. "An appeal to all the hardworking colleagues of JMM and INDIA alliance is that tomorrow we have to be alert and vigilant and participate in the entire counting process at our respective counting centres. We have to stay firm until we get the certificate of victory," he said.

While campaigning in Ranchi, BJP leaders including Yadav and Chouhan urged voters to support the BJP to safeguard "roti, beti, and maati" (food, women, and land), warning that failure to act would allow Bangladeshi infiltrators to threaten the state’s security and culture.

Notably, Dhoni was born on 7 July 1981 in Ranchi, Bihar (now in Jharkhand) in a Hindu Rajput family to Pan Singh and Devaki Devi.

Mahua Maji has total assets of Rs 3,62,84,589 (over 3 crore) and liabilities of Rs 53,62,541 (over 53 lakh). In contrast, C P Singh boasts assets worth Rs 10,23,50,394 (over 10 crore) and liabilities of Rs 50,80,000 (over 50 lakh), reflecting a significant difference in their financial standings.

Ranchi is entirely an urban constituency, with no rural voters as per the 2011 Census. All 346,765 voters are located in urban areas, indicating a fully urbanised electorate in this assembly constituency.

Ranchi, one of the 81 assembly constituencies in Jharkhand, has a total voter count of 346,765, with 370 polling booths. The voter turnout in the 2019 Parliament elections was 54.28%, while it stood at 49.1% in the 2019 Assembly elections.
