Ahead of the Rajasthan assembly elections, the Congress party has expelled as many as 50 of its leaders from within the state following their open protest against candidates who had been granted a ticket by the party.

According to sources, the decision to expel the leaders for a six-year term was mandated by Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, the state Congress in charge. Prior to the action, Randhawa had issued a warning to the protesting leaders, urging them to refrain from disrupting party cohesion.

Street protests, tyre burnings, effigy burnings, and sit-ins were among the tactics employed, with some Congress leaders resigning from their party posts.
