The Lok Sabha witnessed another heated day on Wednesday during the Winter Session as Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Kangana Ranaut sharply criticised the opposition. The Mandi MP questioned Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and her family’s political record. “Whether it is your past or your present, there is no integrity in your character. Your family has never respected this country’s law, order or constitution.”

Referring to Priyanka’s comment that “old matters should be left behind”, she countered sharply.

“I want to remind Priyanka Gandhi, who says we should not talk about the past. But I want to ask about your mother, she did not have Indian citizenship earlier – she got it in 1983 – yet she was voting even before that,” Kangana said.

Her comments pushed the BJP–Congress clash further into controversy.

Jab at Rahul Gandhi over ‘vote chori’ post

Hitting out at Rahul Gandhi, Kangana criticised him for allegedly using a Brazilian model’s photo while accusing the BJP of “vote chori”. She said the opposition had broken House rules and disrespected a woman’s dignity by showing her picture without any proof. “As a woman, I want to say every woman is entitled to her dignity,” she said.

Ranaut criticised opposition members for waving a photo of a woman of “foreign origin” during the debate, even though placards are not allowed in the Lok Sabha. She said the woman had already clarified on social media that she had “never been to India” and had “nothing to do with the Haryana elections.”

She called the act “misleading and irresponsible” and even said she wanted to apologise to the model on behalf of Parliament. “Seek forgiveness on behalf of Parliament, ” she said.

Kangana also accused opposition MPs of preventing Parliament from functioning. She said they “did not let the House work” and used every trick to stall discussions. According to her, the government was ready to debate, but “those who shout the loudest don’t allow work to happen”.

EVM allegations continue to create tension

The Winter Session has remained tense as opposition parties repeatedly raise claims of EVM hacking and vote rigging. The BJP has rejected these allegations as baseless attempts to weaken faith in India’s elections.

Responding to the opposition’s accusations, Kangana firmly defended Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “PM Modi doesn’t hack EVMs; he hacks hearts,” she said, stressing that the BJP’s mandate comes from people’s support, not tampered machines.
