Rajasthan Assembly Elections: Ahead of the upcoming elections, Rajasthan BJP leader Arun Chaturvedi has accused Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot of using official staff for political meetings in violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).

Following the announcement by the Election Commission of India, the MCC came into force. Earlier, the ECI announced that the state would go to polls on November 23, later it was revised to November 25 owing to “large-scale weddings” on the earlier date.

Chaturvedi, former BJP chief in Rajasthan, pointed to Gehlot’s recent travel to Delhi for a meeting with Sonia Gandhi. He alleged that during the trip Gehlot had allegedly took his secretary in a government vehicle which was in direct violation of the MCC.

“Election Commission rules stipulate that ministers are not allowed to have their staff accompany them for political work,” he said, as quoted by PTI.

He also claimed that Gehlot has been using official staff for political meetings, and highlighted multiple appointments and announcements made during the code’s implementation.

Chaturvedi also said that the saffron party is now planning to file with the EC, seeking the removal of the CM’s photographs from promotional material of government schemes and electricity bills, guarantee cards, government leaflets and smartphones.
