Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s car was damaged on Wednesday afternoon when the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra was traversing from Bihar to re-enter in West Bengal from Malda.
The rear windscreen of a car carrying Rahul Gandhi was damaged during the ongoing ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’, with West Bengal unit president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury alleging that the vehicle was “pelted with stones” in Malda district, while Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed the incident took place in adjoining Bihar.

Visuals show the rear windscreen of a car in Rahul Gandhi’s convoy was attacked and smashed, PTI reported.
According to Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the incident occurred after the yatra entered West Bengal’s Malda district from Bihar’s Katihar this afternoon.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury told ANI, “Maybe someone at the back pelted a stone amid the crowd…Police force is overlooking that. A lot can happen due to overlooking. This is a small incident but something could have happened too…”
Issuing a clarification on where the vandalism incident took place, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Kunal Ghosh has claimed that the incident took place in Bihar’s Katihar and not in West Bengal. “It has nothing to do with Bengal politics and TMC,” he said, PTI reported.

However, later, in a post on X, the Congress said that the window pane was damaged due to sudden braking as it had to be applied due to a woman coming in front of the vehicle.
“A huge crowd had come to meet Rahul Gandhi in West Bengal. In this crowd, a woman suddenly came in front of Rahul ji’s car to meet him, due to which the brakes were suddenly applied. Then the glass of the car broke due to the rope used in the security circle,” the post read.
“People’s leader Rahul Gandhi is fighting for justice against the injustice being done to the people. The public is with them, the public is keeping them safe,” it added.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today resumed his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ with a roadshow in Bihar’s Katihar district. The Yatra entered Bihar on Monday, a day after Nitish Kumar made a U-turn and joined NDA.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra is scheduled to re-enter West Bengal from Bihar on Wednesday. The first phase of the yatra in West Bengal concluded on Monday, as it stepped into Bihar from Islampur. It will re-enter West Bengal through Debipur, Ratua in Malda district in the northern part of the state.
