Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver the sixth Ramnath Goenka lecture on Monday evening — sharing his thoughts on courage, independence, and the enduring democratic spirit of India. The event will be held in Noida and broadcast live on the Financial Express website.

“This lecture is not a ceremony but a commitment to the values of truth-telling, accountability, and the power of ideas. This is a time when power equations of the world are being upended, when nations are redefining both their place and purpose and when uncertainty and volatility are the keywords of our times,” said Express Group chairman Viveck Goenka ahead of the event.

He also noted that listening to the Prime Minister (who represented the highest elected office in the world’s largest democracy) also carried a “deeper resonance”.

Ramnath Goenka lectures over the years

The first in the Ramnath Goenka lecture series was delivered by Marianne Pearl, — the wife of The Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl, who was killed by terrorists in Pakistan. Subsequent speakers have included RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan, former President Pranab Mukherjee, ex-Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Most recently, technologist and philanthroist Bill Gates had joined the event, laying out the contours of how technology is reshaping human lives and scripting social change.
