Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled the 77-ft tall bronze statue of Lord Ram in Goa’s Partagali on the occasion 550th-year celebration of Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math. The statue is also the tallest sculpture of Lord Ram in the world. The Prime Minister unveiled the statute in the grand event, after attending a spiritual programme in Karnataka.

The statue has been crafted by Ram Sutar, the artist who created the Statue of Unity in Gujarat, Public Works Department minister Digambar Kamat said.

Uttar Pradesh Minister Om Prakash Rajbhar called the unveiling of statue a “good initiative”. “People struggled for 500 years, leading to the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Now, with statues being installed in Goa and Karnataka, it is a commendable effort…” he added.

Congress targets PM

Speaking on the unveiling the 77-foot-tall Lord Ram statue in Goa, Congress said the Prime Minister is busy with temples monuments while youth of the country need jobs.

“…I want to ask whether the youth need jobs or these statues. People need relief from inflation, not more temples or monuments…” Congress SC Department National Chairman Rajendra Pal Gautam said.
