Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Friday that he spoke to tech billionaire Elon Musk and assured him that India is committed to building a strong partnership with the US in areas of innovation and technology.
The PM took to social media platform X and revealed that he spoke to Musk about various things, including the issues they had discussed during their meeting in Washington DC early this year.
“We discussed the immense potential for collaboration in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing our partnerships with the US in these domains,” Modi wrote on X.
The conversation comes at a time when Elon Musk’s companies, especially Tesla and Starlink, are showing more interest in the Indian market. Tesla is in discussions with Indian officials about building a factory in the country, as per earlier reports. In March, Mukesh Ambani’s Reliance Jio announced a deal with Musk’s SpaceX to launch Starlink satellite internet services in India. Another telecom giant, Sunil Bharti Mittal’s Bharti Airtel, has also signed a similar agreement with SpaceX.
