PM Modi Japan Visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi departed for China on Saturday afternoon after concluding a two-day visit to Japan. He and his Japanese counterpart Shigeru Ishiba, travelled on a bullet train to Sendai on the second day of his Japan visit before visiting a semiconductor plant and key industrial facilities. PM Modi also interacted with Indian train drivers undergoing training at the East Japan Railway Company during the trip.
Sharing the moment on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), PM Ishiba wrote, “With Prime Minister Modi to Sendai. Continuing from last night, I will be with you in the car.”
PM Modi, speaking at the India-Japan Economic Forum in Tokyo, said India today offers both political and economic stability, along with clear and predictable policies. He noted that India is currently the fastest-growing major economy in the world and is on track to soon become the third-largest economy.
The PM said that Japan’s strengths and India’s vast scale can come together to form a strong and balanced partnership. He pointed out that India has taken bold steps in new-age sectors such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, biotechnology, and space.
According to him, Japan’s advanced technology and India’s skilled workforce can jointly drive the technological revolution of this century. He added that India can serve as a gateway for Japanese companies to expand into the Global South.
The Prime Minister stressed that India and Japan will play a key role in shaping the “Asean Century,” bringing stability, prosperity, and growth to the region. He also said the successful cooperation between the two countries in the automobile industry can be repeated in other sectors like robotics, semiconductors, ship-building, and nuclear energy.
While leaving India on Thursday night, the PM said that his visit to Japan will focus on strengthening economic ties and taking the India-Japan special strategic and global partnership into its next phase. He showed confidence over his visits to Japan and then to China saying that they will advance India’s national interests and build stronger cooperation with partner countries. The PM further added that he is looking forward to meeting Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of the SCO summit.
