The Patna High Court on Wednesday directed the Congress to remove an AI-generated video depicting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, Heeraben Modi, from all social media platforms. The video, shared by the Bihar Congress on X, was captioned, “Sahab ke sapno mein aayi maa. Dekhiye rochak samvaad” (Mother came in the sahab’s dream. Watch an interesting interaction).

The clip portrayed a Modi lookalike going to bed after allegedly engaging in “vote stealing”. In his dream, a woman resembling his late mother scolds him for exploiting her name for political purposes. Congress defended the post, claiming it was a satirical take on the Prime Minister’s politics.

The video sparked outrage within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Leaders accused Congress of mocking the Prime Minister’s late mother, alleging that the move was orchestrated under the influence of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi. The BJP argued that the use of AI-generated content to target personal and family matters crosses ethical boundaries in political discourse.
