Lok Sabha Election 2024, Northeast Result 2024 Highlights: The Congress has disrupted the BJP’s aspirations for a complete victory in the northeastern states, which collectively hold 25 Lok Sabha seats. The grand old party won seven seats, including two in the strife-ridden state of Manipur. Meanwhile, the BJP won 13 seats across the eight north-eastern states – Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Tripura, Manipur, Nagaland and Mizoram. Results were declared on June 4.
In Manipur, where the Congress failed to secure any seats in the 2019 general elections, its candidates Angomcha Bimol Akoijam and Alfred Kanngam S Arthur have emerged victorious in both the Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur constituencies. Previously, the BJP clinched the Inner Manipur seat in 2019, while its ally, the Naga Peoples Front (NPF), claimed the Outer Manipur seat. In Assam, the BJP and the Congress won nine and three seats respectively.

Arunachal Pradesh (2): BJP wins Arunachal Pradesh, and is leading from Arunachal East. Union Minister Kiren Rijiju won from Arunachal West and BJP candidate Tapir Gao is leading from Arunachal East seat.
Assam (14): BJP leading in nine, Congress in three seats, UPPL and AGP one seat each.
Manipur (2): Congress leads in two seats - Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur.
Meghalaya (2): Voice of the People Party candidate Dr. Ricky Andrew J. Syngkon won Shillong seat. Congress' Saleng Sangma won Tura seat.
Mizoram (1): Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) leading
Nagaland (1): Congress leading from Nagaland constituency.
Sikkim (1): Sikkim Krantikari Morcha candidate Indra Hang Subba won from Sikkim seat.

Union minister Kiren Rijiju won from the Arunachal West seat in Arunachal Pradesh by a margin of over one lakh votes defeating his nearest rival Congress' Nabam Tuki. Rijiju polled 205417 votes and Tuki got 104679 votes.
BJP candidate Kiren Rijiju is leading from the Arunachal West seat in Arunachal Pradesh by a margin of over 96,000 votes. He has bagged over 196415 votes and Tuki has secured 100100 votes so far, according to the Election Commission of India data as of 3.13 PM.
From the Outer Manipur constituency, Congress candidate Alfred Kanngam S Arthur is leading by a margin of over 49,000 votes over his nearest rival Naga People's Front Kachui Timothy Zimik. Arthur has bagged 2,93,859 votes, while Singh has bagged 2,44,276 votes so far, according to Election Commission of India data as of 1.19 PM.
From the Inner Manipur constituency, Congress candidate Angomcha Bimol Akoijam is leading by a margin of over 70,000 votes over his nearest rival BJP's Thounaojam Basanta Kumar Singh. Akoijam has bagged 2,53,168 votes, while Singh has bagged 1,82,209 votes so far, according to Election Commission of India data as of 1.16 PM.
Congress' Bosiram Siram trails from Arunachal East constituency in Arunachal Pradesh by over 16,000 votes. BJP's Tapir Gao is leading with 1,10,099 votes, according to ECI data till 11.07 AM.
SKM candidate Indra Hang Subbad is leading from the Sikkim Lok Sabha seat, while Citizen Action Party - Sikkim candidate Bharat Basnett is trailing by over 74,000 votes. Subba has so far bagged 1,45,724 votes, according to ECI data till 11.05 AM.

Counting of votes begins across all centres in northeast India. Exit polls have predicted a sweeping win for the NDA from northeast India.
Counting will begin at 8 am today in 152 halls spread across 52 centres in the state.
A total of 152 counting rooms will be operational, furnished with 1,941 counting tables designated for both postal ballots and Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). The counting process will involve 5,823 counting personnel and oversight from 64 general observers. Completion of the counting process is expected to span between 10 to 28 rounds.

Polling took place in three phases on April 19, April 26, and May 7 for the following constituencies in Assam: Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Kaziranga, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Nagaon, Diphu (ST), Darrang-Udalguri, Karimganj, Silchar (SC), Barpeta, Kokrajhar, Dhubri, and Guwahati.
After three phases of elections in Assam, the fate of 143 candidates have been sealed. All results will be known today as counting begins across centres from 8 AM onwards.
In Assam, the overall voter turnout stood at 81.56 percent out of the total eligible electorate of 2.45 crore. Women voters recorded a slightly higher turnout of 81.71 percent compared to 81.42 percent among male voters. A total of 18.81 percent of voters identifying as third gender exercised their franchise across all three phases in the state.
As per an agreement reached between the ruling allies in the state, the BJP will contest 11 out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam. The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) will contest two seats, namely Barpeta and Dhubri, while the United Peoples' Party Liberal (UPPL) will contest one seat, which is Kokrajhar.
From Silchar, the BJP has nominated state Transport Minister Parimal Suklabaidya as its candidate. Meanwhile, sitting MLA Ranjit Dutta is contesting from Sonitpur on a BJP ticket.
The stage is set for the counting of votes for Assam's 14 Lok Sabha seats, which will determine the fate of 143 candidates, including Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Lok Sabha Deputy Leader of the Opposition Gaurav Gogoi. Counting will commence at 8 am on Tuesday in 152 halls across 52 centres in the state. Counting of votes for the lone Lok Sabha seat in Mizoram will begin at 8 am on Tuesday at 13 designated centres, where stringent security measures have been implemented. A total of 16 counting observers have been deployed by the Election Commission for overseeing the process. The counting centres include various locations such as the DC office building, assembly secretariat basement, and Government Aizawl College in Aizawl. Over 2,000 officials will be engaged in the counting process, state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Madhup Vyas said.
