Lok Sabha Elections 2024: Tension is running high in the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Congress camps in Madhya Pradesh as voting concluded on all 29 seats in the state in the first four phases of elections. While the BJP maintains that the party will sweep the state and repeat its 2019 performance when it won 28 seats, the predictions emerging from Rajasthan’s infamous Phalodi Satta Bazar suggest otherwise.

This, despite the betting market giving the BJP a clear upper hand ahead of the June 4 results, even revising its estimates for the party since April when the Lok Sabha elections began. Ahead of the first phase of voting, the Phalodi Satta Bazar had predicted 24 seats for the BJP and 5 seats for the Congress.

After voting concluded in Madhya Pradesh, the market revised its numbers and predicted that the BJP may win 27 of the 29 seats this time, suggesting a drop of one seat from its 2019 tally. Yet, the tension is palpable within the BJP where it returned to power in the Assembly elections held in December last year.

The reason behind this anxiety could the satta bazar prediction which has predicted a very close fight between the Congress and the BJP. As per the market, as many as six seats may actually be too close to call.

As per the Phalodi Satta Bazar’s prediction for Madhya Pradesh, Morena, Mandla, Gwalior, Jhabua, Chhindwara and Rajgarh are among the seven seats may go down to the wire. Of these, Chhindwara is the only seat that the Congress won in 2019 with former Chief Minister Kamal Nath as its candidate. His son, Nakul Nath, is in the fray from this seat this time.

Phalodi Satta Bazar Rates

As per reports, the rates in the Satta Bazar as of May 22 stood at Re 1 for 27 seats for the BJP, Rs 3 for 28 seats for the BJP and Rs 12-15 for a saffron sweep on all 29 seats in the state.

On the national level, BJP’s odds hover between 330 to 335 seats at Re. 1, while the odds for 350 seats stand at Rs. 3, and 400 seats range between Rs. 12 to 15. The odds for NDA to secure 400 seats are placed at Rs. 4 to 5. However, surpassing the 400-seat mark appears to be quite a challenge for BJP, according to grey market projections.
