AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday hailed the two projects inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi as significant milestones for Delhi’s infrastructure, asserting that they were collaborative efforts between the central and city governments.
Modi inaugurated a 13-kilometre section of the Delhi-Meerut Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor, connecting Sahibabad in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, to New Ashok Nagar in Delhi, as well as the Janakpuri West-Krishna Park Extension of Delhi Metro Phase IV.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal congratulated Delhi residents and highlighted the partnership between the two governments behind these projects.
Taking a swipe at critics, he remarked, “These inaugurations are a reply to those who say AAP only engages in fights.” Reflecting on challenges faced by his party, he noted that despite the imprisonment and alleged mistreatment of AAP leaders, their governance priorities remained steadfast.
“Over the past 10 years, our tenure has shown how we kept work above everything else,” Kejriwal said.
However, he further slammed PM Modi for allegedly using his speech to attack the Delhi government. Kejriwal said, “Today, the prime minister kept abusing the people of Delhi and the elected government of Delhi. I was listening to it, it felt bad. The promise made by the prime minister in 2020 — the people of Delhi Dehat are still waiting for that to be fulfilled.”
Kejriwal also urged Modi to honour commitments outlined in the BJP’s election manifesto. With the 70-seat Delhi Assembly elections approaching in February, Kejriwal’s remarks highlighted AAP’s focus on development amid its ongoing friction with the Centre.
