A CRPF constable allegedly killed his live-in partner, a woman police officer, on Friday night and then surrendered at the same police station where she was posted. The incident took place in Gujarat’s Kutch district late Friday night, as per an NDTV report.
The accused Dileep Dangchia reported himself at the Anjar Police Station on Saturday morning and confessed to killing 25-year-old Arunaben Natubhai Jadhav, who was an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) at the same station. The two met on Instagram and have been in a relationship since 2021. They were living together in a rented house in Anjar.
Dispute over personal remarks
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Mukesh Chaudhary, told NDTV that the crime was committed after a heated argument that broke out between the two couples. Jadhav reportedly made insulting remarks on Dileep’s mother, which angered him, and he strangled her to death.
Chaudhary stated, ”He told us that he lost his control during the fight. The couple was planning to get married and had been living together for some time.’’
Dangchia was currently posted in Manipur with the CRPF and was on leave when the incident took place. Police have logged a case of murder and are further probing the case. Forensic analysis and digital review of the case are going on.
Similar cases reported from Uttar Pradesh and Odisha
In a separate case from Uttar Pradesh, a 24-year-old woman, Sheeba, and her 26-year-old lover, Farman alias Chunna, were detained for allegedly murdering Sheeba’s husband, Imran. The victim was found beheaded, and his body was dumped in a drain in Kanchankheda village, as per a PTI report.
During the investigation, both accused accepted their crime and confessed that they committed the crime with the help of Farman’s friend, Rafiq Qureshi. Police have filed murder charges against all three.
In another similar incident, a 24-year-old man from Odisha’s Berhampur town is accused of killing his partner inside a lodge, and later reached the police station to report the crime. The victim was identified as Priya Kumari Moharana. The alleged attacker, Abhaya Kumar Moharana, is from the Lanjipalli area of the city. As per the officials, Abhaya booked a lodge room near the bus stand. Priya was stabbed several times around 3 pm, leading to her death. These recent cases highlight a worrisome pattern arising from strained relationships.
