The Delhi court has granted bail to RJD leaders Lalu Prasad Yadav, Rabri Devi, and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav in a case related to an alleged land-for-jobs scam. The court has set a personal bond of Rs 50,000 for their release and scheduled the next hearing for October 16.

This decision follows the court’s issuance of summons to the aforementioned political figures and fourteen other individuals, based on a fresh chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on July 3.

The CBI had initially filed charges in this case on October 10, 2023, naming 16 persons, including former Bihar Chief Minister and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, his wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, and others as accused.

Lalu Yadav, appearing confident during the recent hearing, stated, “Hearings keep happening. Have we done anything that we need to be scared about?”

This case revolves around the alleged appointment of Bihar residents as substitutes in “Group-D posts” within the Railways between 2004 and 2009 in various zones across Mumbai, Jabalpur, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Hajipur.

It is alleged that these individuals, or their families, transferred their land to the family members of the then Union Minister of Railways, Lalu Prasad Yadav, and a company known as M/s AK Infosystems Private Limited.

Subsequently, this company came under the control of his family members. The CBI contends that these railway appointments did not adhere to the established standards and guidelines set by the Indian Railways for recruitment.
