Samajwadi Party president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav slammed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after a video depicting a physical altercation among municipal council members during a meeting in Shamli went viral on social media platforms.
The incident took place at a Shamli Municipal Council board meeting attended by Municipal Chairman Arvind Sangal and MLA Prasann Chaudhary. Initially convened to discuss development projects valued at Rs 4 crore, the gathering quickly escalated into a heated verbal argument and a physical clash between two council members.

The meeting at the Nagar Palika board turned chaotic, resembling a scene from a wrestling arena, as involved members exchanged punches amidst the turmoil. The video footage displayed MPs slapping, hitting, and kicking each other.
Taking the whole incident to X, Yadav remarked, “When no development work has been undertaken, such physical altercations occurred in the review meeting in Shamli.”
Yadav concluded with a lesson derived from the BJP rule, stating, “Come to the review meeting after arranging your own security.”
