IPS officer Vartika Katiyar was transferred on Monday with immediate effect, few days after she had accused her boss D Roopa Moudgil, of using police personnel to ‘plant’ confidential documents in her chamber.

Inspector General of Police Roopa D Moudgil and DIG Vartika Katiyar were both posted in Karnataka’s Internal Security Division (ISD). While Katiyar has been transferred, Moudgil is reportedly still in Karnataka. Katiyar had filed the complaint against Moudgil on February 20 with Karnataka’s Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh which was then forwarded to Director General of Police Alok Mohan.

In the complaint, Katiyar said that on September 6, 2024, a head constable and a home guard had entered her office after being told by Moudgil to place some files there. They had reportedly also taken photos of the files. Katiyar claimed that these photos were later shared on WhatsApp.

The complaint also stated that both the personnel had used keys from the Control Room to enter Katiyar’s office when she was not there.

Katiyar said that she came to know about the incident very recently and she believes that such instances might have occurred in the past as well, The Indian Express reported. She further added that such instances might be repeated in the future and if anything untoward happens, then Moudgil will be directly responsible.

Katiyar claimes that Moudgil had threatened to give a negative feedback against her in the annual report. The Indian Express tried to get in touch with Moudgil, but she did not respond to the allegations.
