The Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) has released its first list of 13 candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. This marks the party’s maiden assembly elections, as it was floated by former chief minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. The party’s general secretary (organisation), R S Chib, released the list of candidates.
The party has decided to field a slate of candidates, including Abdul Majeed Wani, former J&K minister, from Doda East, Mohammad Amin Bhat, former MLA, from Devsar, Mohammad Aslam Goni, former J&K advocate general, from Bhaderwah, DDC member Saleem Parray from Dooru, and Muneer Ahmed Mir from Lolab.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced its list of seven candidates for the upcoming assembly elections. The Delhi-based party will field the following candidates: Bilal Ahmed Deva (Anantnag West), Ghulam Nabi Wani (Rajpora), Mir Altaf Hussain (Anantnag), Qaiser Sultan Ganai (Ganderbal), Ghulam Nabi Bhat (Eidgah), Amir Ahmed Bhat (Khanyar),Nisar Ahmed Lone (Gurez), Peer Bilal Ahmed (Hazratbal).

Amir Ahmed Bhat, who recently contested the Lok Sabha elections from Srinagar but did not succeed, will be running for Khanyar.

The assembly elections for the Union Territory will be held in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1, with the vote counting scheduled for October 4.
AAP has also submitted its list of 40 star campaigners to the Election Commission. This list includes Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, his wife Sunita Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and other party leaders such as Sanjay Singh, Raghav Chadha, Atishi, and Imran Hussain.
So far, fourteen candidates have filed their nominations for the first phase, which covers 24 assembly segments across the Union Territory—16 in Kashmir and eight in the Jammu region. The last date for nominations is August 27. The constituencies voting in the first phase include Pampore, Tral, Pulwama, Rajpora, Zainapora, Shopian, D.H. Pora, Kulgam, Devsar, Dooru, Kokernag (ST), Anantnag West, Anantnag, Srigufwara-Bijbehara, Shangus-Anantnag East, Pahalgam, Inderwal, Kishtwar, Padder-Nagseni, Bhaderwah, Doda, Doda West, Ramban, and Banihal.
