In a disturbing incident at Infosys’ Electronic City campus in Bengaluru, a 28-year-old employee has been arrested for allegedly filming female colleagues in the office washroom. The accused, Swapnil Nagesh Mali, originally from Andhra Pradesh, who works as a Senior Associate Consultant in the Helix Department of Infosys, was caught red-handed while recording a female employee from an adjacent toilet stall on June 30, according to Asianet News.

According to the FIR filed at the Electronic City Police Station, the complainant, a technical analyst at Infosys, reported to work at 10 AM and visited the third-floor restroom an hour later. There, she noticed a suspicious reflection on the opposite door. When she exited and re-entered the washroom to investigate, she found that someone in the adjacent stall was recording using a mobile phone.

Standing on the commode, the woman spotted Mali — with his pants down — secretly filming from the next stall. She immediately screamed, prompting Mali to apologise on the spot. HR personnel rushed to the scene and examined his phone, where they found more than 30 videos allegedly featuring different women.

Initially, Infosys management reportedly tried to resolve the matter internally by asking Mali to apologise, without taking strict disciplinary action. After the victim’s husband learned about the incident, he demanded immediate police action.
A formal complaint was filed, and Electronic City police arrested Mali on Tuesday.

The complainant, who usually works from home, had been attending office under the company’s new hybrid policy mandating 10 in-office days per month. The FIR also notes that when she noticed the reflection and observed suspicious activity for several minutes, she confirmed the recording by standing on the commode herself.

The accused had been using his mobile phone from the adjacent toilet, standing on the commode to record through gaps between stalls. The disturbing footage found on his device suggests that this may not have been a one-off incident, and police are now investigating the extent of the offence.
