The India Meteorological Department has warned about extremely heavy rainfall expected in Maharashtra, Coastal and North Interior Karnataka and Goa for the next few days. Additionally, heavy showers are likely to occur in northeastern India, central India, and eastern India. The southwest monsoon has already withdrawn from parts of Kachchh and West Rajasthan. The IMD has also released a red alert for extremely heavy downpours in Konkan, Goa, and Coastal Karnataka.
Heavy rainfall forecast for Coastal Karnataka, Telangana, and more southern regions
The Met Department has predicted that Coastal Karnataka is expected to get isolated heavy rains today (24 Sept). North Interior Karnataka is likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall on 24 Sept. Heavy downpours might be present in Yanam, Telangana, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh from 24 Sept to 25 Sept. Rains will also extend their coverage in North Interior Karnataka and Rayalaseema on 24 Sept. Goa and Konkan will get it on 24 Sept and 25 Sept. Similar weather patterns will be seen in Mahe, Kerala, South Interior Karnataka, and Rayalaseema on 24 Sept.
IMD Weather Update for Western India
Isolated severe downpours are predicted in Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, and Konkan from 24 Sept to 26 Sept. Gujarat region may witness the same weather on 25 Sept and 26 Sept whereas Marathwada will get it on 24 Sept. Kutch and Saurashtra are likely to receive it from 24 Sept to 28 Sept.
Isolated heavy rains warning for Northwest India
The Weather Department has forecast isolated to moderate showers in northwest India except on West Rajasthan which is likely to stay dry for this whole week. Moreover, isolated heavy downpours might take place in Uttarakhand from 25 Sept to 26 Sept and in East Uttar Pradesh from 26 Sept and 27 Sept.
Central India Weather Update
Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha are projected to receive isolated heavy rainfall from 24 Sept to 26 Sept and Madhya Pradesh is expected to get it from 24 Sept to 27 Sept.
Heavy rainfall alert for Northeast and Eastern India
Assam and Meghalaya are expected to get isolated heavy showers on 25 Sept and 26 Sept while Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal may get it on 26 Sept. Likewise, Odisha is anticipated to receive it from 24 Sept to 26 Sept. Bihar, West Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand are likely to get it from 25 Sept to 27 Sept. Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura and Arunachal Pradesh might witness the same weather from 24 Sept to 29 Sept.
