Haryana Elections: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday rescheduled the Haryana Assembly elections, moving the polling date from October 1 to October 5, 2024. As a result, the counting of votes for both the Jammu & Kashmir and Haryana Assembly elections will now take place on October 8, instead of the previously set October 4.

This adjustment was made to respect the voting rights and cultural traditions of the Bishnoi community, who observe the Asoj Amavasya festival in remembrance of their Guru Jambheshwar. In Haryana, 90 seats are up for grabs, and all of them will be contested in a single phase. The total number of voters in the state is 2.01 crore, comprising 1.06 crore males, 0.95 crore females, 4.52 lakhs first-time voters, and 40.95 lakhs young voters. The last day to file nominations is September 12, followed by scrutiny on September 13, and withdrawal of candidatures by September 16.
