The 17-year-old boy, who allegedly crashed his luxury Porsche car into a motorbike, resulting in the spot death of two techies in Pune, was granted bail on a surety of Rs 7,500 and an assurance from his grandfather to keep him away from bad company, the order issued by the Juvenil Justice Board has revealed.
The 17-year-old, who the police claim was drunk at the time, knocked down two motorbike-borne software engineers at Kalyani Nagar in Maharashtra’s Pune in the early hours of Sunday.

The teen, son of a real estate developer, appeared before the Juvenile Justice Board and was granted bail hours later. Police stated that on Saturday night, the juvenile and his friends allegedly consumed alcohol at two establishments between 9.30 pm and 1 am.
“His grandfather has given an assurance that he will keep the Child-in-Conflict with Law (CCL) away from any bad company and he will concentrate on his study or any vocational course which is useful for his career. He is ready to abide by the condition imposed on him. Therefore, it is just and proper to release the CCL on bail,” said the order passed by the Juvenile Justice Board on Sunday, PTI reported.

In its ruling, the Board granted bail to the CCL upon the execution of a personal bond and a surety bond of Rs 7,500. The conditions include parental responsibility for his well-being and a commitment to refrain from future offences.
Additionally, he is required to visit the Regional Transport Office to study traffic regulations and deliver a presentation to the Board within 15 days. The order mandates the CCL to compose a 300-word essay on the subject of road accidents and their remedies.

Meanwhile, the Juvenile Justice Board on Wednesday issued a notice to a 17-year-old boy, summoning him to appear before it on Wednesday, after Pune police’s petition to review the boy’s bail order. The board is scheduled to convene at around 12 noon at its office in the Yerawada area.
Previously, the Pune police had contested the bail order in a sessions court, urging for the boy to be treated as saying the crime committed was “heinous”.However, the court directed the police to seek a review of the order from the Juvenile Justice Board.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, overseeing the home portfolio, emphasised on Tuesday that there have been no indications of police negligence in their handling of the car crash case. He vehemently denied any allegations of pressure on the investigating officers.
