In anticipation of an upcoming protest by AAP leaders and supporters in the national capital this Sunday, officials from the Delhi Police have intensified security measures. This decision follows AAP’s announcement of organising a candle march and the symbolic burning of an effigy representing the BJP government, in protest against the arrest of their party leader and Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday.

“We’ve received intelligence regarding a planned protest by AAP members. To maintain law and order, we’ve bolstered security across the national capital. Deployment of paramilitary forces will complement the presence of Delhi Police personnel,” stated a senior police official.

Senior officers will oversee the situation in their respective districts closely. Station House Officers (SHOs) have been instructed to vigilantly monitor their areas and promptly report any signs of protest to their superiors.

Stringent security measures, including heavy personnel deployment and multi-layered barricades, have been established along routes leading to the BJP headquarters, ITO and the ED office, where AAP members intend to gather for their demonstration. Paramilitary personnel, equipped with anti-riot gear, have been stationed to maintain law and order.

The police have coordinated with the traffic department to ensure uninterrupted traffic flow in Delhi and are prepared to implement diversions if AAP demonstrators decide to march. Additionally, roads leading to both the BJP headquarters and the ED office in central Delhi have been sealed off as part of the heightened security arrangements.
