In the results announced today of Delhi Assembly Election 2025, the Delhites have turned the table and switched the ruling government from AAP to BJP. The top names in the Delhi Election such as Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Ramesh Bidhuri and many others have faced defeat amid a major hype of expected victory. Here are the top names who lost the election:

Arvind Kejriwal

Arvind Kejriwal, National Convener of the Aam Aadmi Party was defeated by Parvesh Sahib Singh of BJP fighting from the New Delhi constituency. The AAP leader received 42.18 per cent of the votes while Parvesh Singh got 48.82 per cent of the votes. Arvind Kejriwal first became the Chief Minister for a short duration in 2013, he led AAP on the path to victory in the 2015 and 2020 elections. However, last year he was arrested in a corruption case linked to Delhi’s now-scrapped liquor policy.

Manish Sisodia

Manish Sisodia, former deputy CM of Delhi, lost the Jungpura seat from TARVINDER SINGH MARWAH of BJP with a margin of almost 675 votes.  Manish Sisodia was a three-time MLA from east Delhi’s Patparganj. However, he had switched to Jangpura for this election and gave his seat to Avadh Ojha. He was also arrested in a liquor policy corruption case in 2023 and spent nearly one-and-a-half years in jail before he got bail.

Ramesh Bidhuri 

Ramesh Bidhuri lost the Kalkaji seat by 3500 votes. He was defeated by Atishi of the Aam Aadmi Party, who won with almost 52,000 votes. He was the former Lok Sabha MP from the South Delhi constituency, who was in the news due to his controversial remarks in Lok Sabha against Kunwar Danish Ali. He was also shifted from the Loskabha election in 2024 to the Delhi assembly election in 2025.

Saurabh Bhardwaj

Saurabh Bhardwaj a prominent leader of AAP lost on Greater Kailash seat by almost 3000 votes. He was defeated by Shikha Roy of the BJP. He won the Greater Kailash seat thrice in 2013 but lost out to Shikha Roy in today’s Delhi election. He was a minister in the Delhi government and handled multiple portfolios including home, power and water supply. 

Satyendra Jain

Satyendra Jain witnessed a defeat by almost 20,000 votes by Karnail Singh of Bhartiya Janta Party. Karnail Singh received 56,869 votes, while Jain got 35,871 votes. In the 2020 Delhi Assembly elections, AAP candidate Satyendra Jain won the seat with 51,165 votes, defeating BJP candidate S.C. Vats, who received 43,573 votes. Also in the 2015 Delhi Assembly elections, Jain emerged victorious.

Avadh Ojha

Avadh Ojha the renowned UPSC educator turned politician lost the Patparganj seat. He was defeated by Ravinder Singh Negi (Ravi Negi) of BJP and lost by 28000 votes. He joined the AAP ahead of the election and was named the party’s candidate from Partparganj. The seat was won by Manish Sisodia three times.

Somnath Bharti

Somnath Bharti lost the Malviya Nagar seat by almost 2100 votes. He was defeated by BJP’s Satish Upadhyay, who got 39,564 votes. Somnath Bharti has held the seat since first winning it in 2013. 

Durgesh Pathak

Durgesh Pathak lost by 1231 votes in the Delhi assembly election from Rajendra Nagar seat. He was defeated by Umang Bajaj from Bhartiya Janta Party who got 46,671 votes. He won the seat during the 2022 by-election and has been a prominent member of the political affairs committee during the AAP government.

Rakhi Birla

Rakhi Birla of the Aam Admi Party lost the Madipur seat by 10,899 votes. She was defeated by Kailash Gangwal of Bhartiya Janta Party who got 52,019 votes. Rakhi Birla was a three-time MLA from Mangol Puri, was this time selected from Madipur by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), replacing Girish Soni.
