A loud explosion near the CRPF School in Rohini’s Sector 14 on Sunday morning prompted an immediate response from police and bomb squad teams. According to authorities, a PCR call was received at approximately 7:47 am, reporting a blast with a loud noise near the school.

Upon reaching the scene, police discovered that the school’s wall was damaged, and a foul smell lingered in the area. The blast also shattered the windows of a nearby shop and damaged a parked car. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Authorities, including teams from the Crime Branch, Forensic Science Laboratory, and the bomb squad, are currently investigating the cause of the explosion. A fire brigade team also arrived to ensure safety.

Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received a call about a blast near the boundary wall of a CRPF school in Rohini. “We dispatched two fire engines immediately. There was no fire or injuries, so our team returned,” DFS officials reported.

While the exact nature of the blast remains unknown, officials are continuing their inspection to determine the source and reason behind the incident.

Bomb disposal team on spot

A senior police officer mentioned that bomb disposal teams are scanning the vicinity and nearby police stations have been alerted to increase patrols. “We request residents to report any suspicious items immediately,” the officer added.

Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion, which led them to believe it was an LPG cylinder blast. “The blast was intense, shattering shop windows and scattering items,” said a nearby shop owner.

The Special Cell of the Delhi Police’s terror unit arrived at the scene following the explosion. Initial investigations suggest no terror angle, though final confirmation will come from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team, according to sources. A crime team, FSL experts, and the bomb disposal squad were also called to assess the area. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and checking the sewer line to determine the nature of the blast. While the material involved initially appeared to resemble a crude bomb, FSL sources said a clearer understanding will be available once detailed reports are completed.

NSG Commandos are carrying out search operations at the blast site near CRPF School in Prashant Vihar. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) team is also on the spot where a blast was heard.
