In the aftermath of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah’s killing during Israeli strikes in Lebanon on Saturday, the Cyber Police in Kashmir have issued an advisory urging social media users to avoid posting inflammatory content that could incite communal or sectarian tensions in the valley.

The advisory, posted on X (formerly Twitter), stated, “We’ve noticed inflammatory and sectarian posts being shared on social media, threatening communal harmony. We urge everyone to refrain from posting or engaging in such divisive content.”

Authorities have warned of stringent legal consequences for those found sharing content aimed at disrupting peace. “Any individual found posting or sharing sectarian, inflammatory, or provocative content will face strict legal action under relevant sections of the law. Let’s work together to maintain the unity and tranquility of Kashmir,” the advisory added.

Nasrallah’s death has sparked spontaneous protests in Shia-majority areas of Srinagar and Budgam districts. While the protests have remained peaceful, there are concerns over provocative posts surfacing online, potentially inflaming tensions.

The Cyber Police’s advisory emphasizes the importance of maintaining communal harmony and warns against any attempts to disturb the region’s peace through divisive online activity.
