Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi has called on India to provide solid evidence in the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians on Tuesday. Afridi expressed his concern over India’s swift blame on Pakistan for the attack, urging the country to present proof before making such accusations.

Afridi said, “India swiftly blamed Pakistan for the #Pahalgam incident, they should come up with evidence and proofs. No religion in the world teaches you to support such incidents, we are all very concerned for the lives of innocent people.”

The attack, carried out by terrorists from the Resistance Front (TRF), a faction of the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), was one of the deadliest in the Kashmir Valley in recent years. The militants opened fire on civilians in the Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam, resulting in the tragic loss of life. Several others were injured in the attack, which has been condemned globally.

Afridi also took issue with the way the Indian media covered the incident, criticising the sensationalist approach taken by some outlets. “It’s surprising that within an hour of the attack, their media turned into Bollywood. For God’s sake, don’t make everything Bollywood,” Afridi remarked, adding that he was astonished by the media’s handling of the situation.

Although he did not directly name individuals, Afridi also lashed out at the Indian cricket fraternity for quickly pointing fingers at Pakistan, suggesting a need for more thoughtful and evidence-based responses.

The Pahalgam attack has sparked renewed tensions between India and Pakistan, both of whom have long accused each other of fostering terrorism in the disputed region of Kashmir. This incident has once again brought the focus back on the security situation in the region, with both sides demanding justice for the innocent lives lost.
