A Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel saved the life of a Srinagar-bound passenger who collapsed at Indira Gandhi International Airport by quickly administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a life-saving procedure performed when the heart stops beating.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on August 20 in the forecourt of Terminal 2 of Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport. The passenger, who was set to travel to Srinagar on an Indigo flight, collapsed near the hand trolley stand.
A two-member quick reaction team (QRT) from the CISF observed the passenger’s collapse, and one member immediately performed CPR. The passenger was then taken to Safdarjung Hospital for further treatment.
“Prompt and alert actions of the CISF personnel saved a life,” an airport official said. CISF is responsible for providing counter-terrorism security at airports.
