As per recent updates, Congress has been leading in seven seats in Punjab and the AAP in three. Congress candidates were leading from Amritsar, Jalandhar, Fatehgarh Sahib, Gurdaspur, Patiala, Ferozepur and Ludhiana seats and the AAP was ahead in Hoshiarpur, Sangrur and Anandpur Sahib, the ECI reported.
With a difference of 3689 votes, Indian National Congress contestant, Manish Tewari secured 206522 votes. In trail, Bharatiya Janata Party's contestant, Sanyaj Tandon scored 202833 votes.

In the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, BJP's Kirron Kher defeated Congress' Pawan Bansal by nearly 70,000 votes. In 2019, Kher won again with 231,188 votes to Bansal's 184,218, a margin of 46,970 votes. Before Kher, Bansal served as Chandigarh's MP for Congress, winning three consecutive terms from 1999 to 2014. Congress had a stronghold in the constituency with four victories before Kher's tenure.

At 58, he has been elected twice to the Lok Sabha on a Congress ticket, first representing Ludhiana in 2009 and later Anandpur Sahib in 2019.
