The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police announced that restrictions under CrPC section 144, which includes a ban on unauthorized public gatherings, will be implemented district-wide on February 16. This decision comes in response to planned protest marches organized by the farmers' body Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) and other unions. The Bharatiya Kisan Union, a member of SKM, had previously called for a 'Bharat Bandh' on February 16, citing various unmet demands of farmers.
A 38-year-old man from Rajasthan was mauled to death by an eight-year-old male Asiatic lion in Sri Venkateswara Zoo here on Thursday, said a Forest department official. Around 4 pm, Prahlad Gujjar from Alwar district in Rajasthan came as a lone visitor and entered the restricted area, said the official. The lion did not eat any part of his body, which was found intact with neck injuries where the animal bit him, the official added. (PTI)
The party of imprisoned former prime minister Imran Khan announced Umar Ayub Khan as its prime ministerial candidate. Umar Ayub Khan, aged 54, serves as the secretary-general of the party and is the grandson of former military dictator Ayub Khan. He joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) prior to the 2018 general elections, having previously contested in the 2013 polls as a candidate of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) from Haripur in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A massive fire broke out at the main market in Alipur, North Delhi, on Thursday evening. Shortly after the fire erupted, fire tenders reached the spot to douse the fire.

The death toll from a landslide in the southern Philippines has risen to 92 as the search for missing people continues, officials said on Thursday. Provincial officials said 36 people were still unaccounted for after the landslide struck the town of Maco in the Davao de Oro province on Feb. 6.
The EU commission said on Thursday it had approved 6.9 billion euros ($7.4 billion) in state aid for infrastructure projects to boost the supply of renewable hydrogen.
