On Thursday evening, unidentified individuals shot at Abhishek, son of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Vinod Ghosalkar. The incident occurred in the MHB Colony police station area in Dahisar. Abhishek, a former corporator, was taken to the hospital for treatment.
A 10-year-old student was killed while eight others were seriously injured when their school van was hit by a loading truck in the Araul area here on Thursday, police said. The accident took place in Saraiyya when a van attached with a private school was taking nine students to their homes in the afternoon, they said. The truck hit the van from behind, leaving all the students injured, they added. (PTI)
Pakistan's general election voting ended amid rigging accusations and communication service shutdowns. The voting lasted from 8 am to 5 pm, with exceptions for those already at polling stations. However, concerns about fairness arose due to rigging claims and reports of people being denied voting rights.

An electric transformer exploded near a village in Pune, killing one person and injuring seven others. The blast occurred near Solu village. Firefighters and police arrived at the scene, and the injured were taken to Sassoon General Hospital. Preliminary reports suggest the explosion happened near a closed metal unit.

Before 2014, the allocation of coal blocks was done on an arbitrary basis without following a transparent process to allocate the blocks. The coal sector was excluded from competition and transparency and the sector lacked investments and efficiencies. Today, a section of the boundary wall at Gokulpuri metro station collapsed, resulting in one person being injured, who was promptly taken to a nearby hospital as reported by the Delhi Fire Service. The incident caused injuries to at least 3 to 4 individuals. One person was trapped under the debris and suffered severe injuries, while others sustained minor injuries. Efforts to clear the debris are underway with the assistance of JCBs and cranes. Local police and Metro staff are on the scene. Pakistan Today reported that the Caretaker Interior Ministry has set up a control room to oversee the general elections' overall situation in Pakistan. This control room comprises representatives from various pertinent institutions, including the Interior Department, police, and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), who are tasked with their respective responsibilities within the control room. Additionally, the report states that there is a focus on facilitating information exchange between law enforcement agencies and other relevant entities in this room.
According to Dawn, a total of 17,816 candidates are competing in the elections. Among them, 12,695 candidates will vie for provincial assembly seats, while 5,121 candidates will compete for seats in the National Assembly.
According to Dawn, over 17,000 candidates are participating in today's elections in Pakistan. The electorate will choose 266 candidates for the Pakistan National Assembly. Subsequently, the elected members will, through a majority vote, determine the next prime minister. Concurrently, voters will select representatives for their provincial assemblies, who will then elect provincial chief executives using a comparable procedure.
