PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate BCI’s ‘International Lawyers Conference 2023’ on Sept 23

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the two-day ‘International Lawyers Conference 2023’ organised by the Bar Council of India (BCI) on September 23 here at Vigyan Bhavan. During the inauguration ceremony on Saturday, Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud will be the chief guest while Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice of the United Kingdom Alex Chalk KC will be the guests of honour, the BCI said.

Women’s Reservation Bill, 2023 cleared in Lok Sabha

The Lok Sabha passed the Women’s Reservation Bill, 2023. Earlier on Monday, the Bill had got clearance by the Union Cabinet.

Total to invest USD 300 mn in JV with Adani Group

France’s TotalEnergies SE will invest USD 300 million in a new joint venture with Adani Group for renewable energy project, the Indian conglomerate said in a stock exchange filing on Wednesday. Adani Green Energy Ltd, the renewable energy arm of the Adani group, said: “Total will make a further investment (either directly or through its affiliates) of USD 300 million to form a new 50:50 joint venture company” with AGEL. Adani Green Energy Twenty Three Limited (AGE23L) will house a 1,050 MWac portfolio, which will comprise a mix of already operational (300 MWac), under construction (500 MWac) and under development assets (250 MWac) with a blend of solar and wind power, it added. Full trial run for Odisha’s second Vande Bharat Express underway

The full trial run of the Puri-Rourkela Vande Bharat Express, which would be Odisha’s second such train, was conducted on Wednesday, officials said. The train left the Puri station at 5 am to reach Bhubaneswar at 6.05 am, and left after five minutes for the onward journey. After brief halts at Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, it reached Sambalpur at 10.15 am. The train was supposed to reach its destination, Rourkela, at 12.45 pm, they said. (PTI)

Akasa Air to go global?

Akasa Air has reportedly got the regulatory approval to start its global operations. According to an ET report, Akasa Air will commence the flights to West Asian destinations by December this year.

Explosion in gelatin factory of Kerala, 1 dead 4 injured

Around 8 am today, a gelatin factory, Nitta Gelatine Factory, in the Kakkanad district of Kerala exploded causing 1 death and four severely injured. The police are investigating the reason behind the blast as the company was not using any chemicals as per reports. (READ MORE)

Dozens of nations to sign U.N. ocean treaty but implementation still awaits

A UN treaty is supposed to be signed today by 60 countries in order to meet the target of “30 by 30” which was set last year in the United Nations. It is an initiative to protect 30 percent of earth’s land and soil by 2030. The agreement will create ocean sanctuaries where fishing will be prohibited, and also ensure human activity on the high seas is subject to environmental impact assessments.

US in active talks with India to look at producing military systems, says Pentagon

The United States is in active talks with the Indian government to look at producing military systems in areas related to ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance) and ground-based conventional warfare, a senior Pentagon official said. (PTI)

TN Food Safety Officer inspects 90 shops, 70 kg chicken confiscated

The Food Safety Officer of Tamil Nadu conducted raids in Madurai shops to inspect food. As per the head officer Jayarama Pandian, the department raided 90 shops and had confiscated around 70 kg of chicken from the shops. He reported, “We inspected 90 shops & confiscated 70 kg of chicken. We have sealed two shops.”
