Bihar Election 2025 Full Candidate List Highlights: As the deadline for filing nominations for the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections ends today, Union Home Minister Amit Shah along with several BJP Chief Ministers will be seen attending public meetings in the poll-bound state today. The BJP is bringing in its top leaders to the state, turning the day into a large-scale campaign drive.

Congress releases first list of 48 candidates

After days of uncertainty over seat-sharing within the Mahagathbandhan, the Congress on Thursday released its first list of 48 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Among the key names, Bihar Congress Legislature Party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan will contest from the Kadwa seat.

The deadlock appeared to ease after Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and party president Mallikarjun Kharge personally reached out to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav to resolve the dispute over seat-sharing, according to sources. However, the final seat distribution among the alliance partners has not yet been officially announced.

In the Congress’s first list, Garib Das has been nominated from Bachwara — a seat where the INDIA bloc partner CPI has also named its candidate, making it a friendly contest. The party has again fielded Anand Shankar Singh from Aurangabad.

Other candidates include Jayesh Mangal Singh from Bagaha, Amit Giri from Nautan, Abhishek Ranjan from Chanpatia, Wasi Ahmed from Bettiah, Shyam Bihari Prasad from Raxaul, Shashi Bhushan Rai from Govindganj, and Manohar Prasad Singh from Manihari (ST). These constituencies will vote in the second phase on November 11.

Meanwhile, for the first phase of polling on November 6, the party has named Sarita Devi from Sonbarsha, Mithilesh Kumar Chaudhary from Benipur, Bijendra Chaudhary from Muzaffarpur, Om Prakash Garg from Gopalganj, and Sajneev Singh from Vaishali. The Congress hopes these candidates will strengthen its presence across key regions of the state.

Bihar Election 2025 LIVE Updates: Congress, RJD rule was one of anarchy - says Yogi Adityanath

Addressing a public rally in Bihar's Saharsa, UP CM Yogi Adityanath says, "NDA is taking forward 'virasat' and 'vikas' in Bihar...Today, when development is being recognised, Congress and RJD have started a campaign that they don't want development, they want burqa, so that they can rob the rights of the poor by getting fake votes cast."

"During Congress's tenure, they used to question the existence of Lord Ram and Lord Krishna. They used to let infiltrators enter the country, which led to anarchy. RJD only worked on the development of their family, not Bihar. PM Modi says the country is his family, but Lalu ji says Rabri Devi's family is his only family. RJD cannot think beyond this. However, the NDA works for the country, and Bihar's double-engine government is working towards the state's development. Today, when development is being recognised, Congress and RJD have started a campaign that they don't want development, they want burqa, so that they can rob the rights of the poor by getting fake votes cast."
