Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav joined Congress MP Rahul Gandhi in the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ at Bihar’s Sasaram on Friday.
The Congress MP began his yatra from the party’s district office in Sasaram on Friday morning and is expected to enter Uttar Pradesh through Mohania in Kaimur district in the evening.
Both the leaders of the INDIA bloc, a grouping of Opposition parties to take on the BJP-led NDA in the Lok Sabha elections, were seen sitting on the roof of a sports utility vehicle, as they waved at the crowds. They will also address a public meeting at Dhaneychha in the Durgawati block of Kaimur at around 3 PM.
The Nyay Yatra arrived in Bihar days after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who was at the forefront of the Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) dumped the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) in the state and joined hands again with the BJP.
The Yatra will reach its final stage in Bihar and is scheduled to enter Uttar Pradesh in the evening today, where Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also join in along with her brother.
The Yatra will be in UP till the evening of February 25 with a two-day break on February 22 and 23.
Beginning from Manipur on January 14, the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ will cover 6,713 km in 67 days passing through 15 states. The march concludes in Mumbai on March 20.
