Sardarpura Assembly Election Results 2023 LIVE Updates: Despite losing the Rajasthan Assembly elections to BJP, Ashok Gehlot managed to retain his Saradarpura seat. He dismissed the demand for ‘younger faces’ in Congress while speaking to the media.
On Sunday evening, Gehlot submitted his resignation as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan to Governor Kalraj Mishra at the Raj Bhavan. He won the Saradarpura seat by a margin of 26396 votes against BJP’s novice candidate Dr Mahendra Rathore.
The BJP posted a thumping win with stellar victory on 115 seats in Rajasthan, where assembly elections took place.
For Gehlot, the election this time is not just about winning Sardarpura but also showing who is the real boss of Rajasthan. Winning with a big margin could have helped Gehlot gain an upper hand in the power game with Sachin Pilot and even Congress’ central leadership to a large extent. The BJP had fielded Mahendra Singh Rathore, a man of the ‘sangathan’ against Gehlot.

According to the Election Commission of India, the results for each of the five states, including Rajasthan, were declared on Sunday, determining the winning candidate and the future MLA of Sardarpura constituency. The district with the highest attendance of voters during the polling was Jaisalmer, followed by Hanumangarh and Dholpur.
Polling took place at more than 51,000 polling booths in 199 assembly seats that began at 7 a.m. and finished at 6 p.m. on November 3. According to reports, due to long lines inside polling booths, polling extended until 9 or 10 p.m. in certain areas. Rajasthan recorded a voter turnout of 75.45 per cent, slightly higher than in 2018. The voter turnout in the Sardarpura constituency was recorded at 65.68 per cent.

Whil Gehlot may not be able to make a comeback, if one looks at the EC trends, the jaadugar of Rajasthan has managed to save his bastion. Gehlot, who was leading from Sardarpura since early morning, has consolidated his lead. The current CM is leading from Sardarpura with a margin of over 11,000 votes.
Incumbent CM Ashok Gehlot is leading from his stronghold Sardarpura in terms of postal ballots.
The counting process for 199 Assembly constituencies will commence at 8 AM, starting with postal ballots. EVM counting is scheduled to begin at 8:30 AM.
According to Rajasthan Congress chief Govind Singh Dotasra, "The assurances we have provided and the accomplishments of the Congress government over the past 5 years have secured another term for us."
Gehlot's influence, often described as 'jaadu' (magic), has left an enduring mark. Despite the saffron wave in 2014 and 2019, Gehlot continued to assert his prominence in state politics, marked by a consistent increase in victory margins since 2008.
