Andhra Pradesh, AP Election Results 2024 Lok sabha Election Highlights: TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu celebrated his landslide win in the Andhra Pradesh elections on Tuesday. The NDA alliance, comprising TDP, BJP, and Janasena, achieved a huge victory in Andhra, securing 21 parliamentary and 164 assembly seats. The breakdown of Lok Sabha seats saw TDP winning 16, BJP three, and Janasena two, significantly weakening the YSRCP which won just 4 seats. Given that BJP couldn’t secure a majority alone in the Lok Sabha, TDP’s 16 seats are of extreme significance to the NDA. In the Assembly elections, TDP captured 135 out of 175 seats, Janasena secured 21, and BJP eight, while YSRCP only managed to secure 11 seats, as per the Election Commission data. Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer accepted Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy’s resignation on Tuesday. Naidu is expected to take oath as the Andhra CM on June 9.

As the BJP faces the possibility of falling short in its Lok Sabha count, its ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has firmly declared its loyalty to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), rejecting any rumors of aligning with the INDIA bloc. According to the Election Commission's data until 7 pm, the BJP is facing a tough situation with 89 seats secured and leading in 150 more. This trend indicates that the party's total may reach around 240 seats, falling notably short of the 272 required for a majority, which brings every alliance under close scrutiny.
Following his party's inability to secure a majority, CM Jagan Mohan Reddy extended congratulations to TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu, Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan, and the BJP for their victory in Andhra Pradesh, as reported by PTI.
In the S. Kota Assembly constituency, TDP candidate Kolla Lalita Kumari secured victory over incumbent MLA Kadubandi Srinivasa Rao with a margin of 37,038 votes.

The Telugu Desam Party-led alliance is headed towards a landslide win in the Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh, leading in over 150 out of 175 seats. The party was also leading in 21 out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state. It is quite evident that this may bring back Naidu as the CM, just months after he was arrested in the AP Skill Development Corporation scam during his last tenure.
TDP has won 43 seats and is currently leading in 93 seats while Janasena Party has won 6 seats and is leading in 15 seats.
The ruling YSR Congress party faced significant anti-incumbency sentiments, combined with a united effort by opposition parties, leading to their defeat and the transfer of power to the Telugu Desam party-led NDA in Andhra Pradesh. The voters of Andhra Pradesh have clearly communicated a strong message, prioritizing sustainable development over temporary welfare measures, by voting out the incumbent YSR Congress Government in the assembly elections.
Naidu and his TDP party face significant challenges now that they have reclaimed power in Andhra Pradesh. One major task ahead is persuading their coalition partner, the BJP at the national level, to fulfill the long-promised "special status" for the state, a commitment the rival YSRCP party has yet to fulfill. However, that's just scratching the surface. Naidu and his team must also address the state's substantial financial troubles. This includes an enormous debt exceeding Rs 13.50 lakh crore, equating to a burden of Rs 7 lakh per family and Rs 2 lakh per individual! Managing the finances has been a struggle for the current administration, especially with the TDP's commitments to extensive freebies and subsidies.

Jairam Ramesh, the general secretary of the Congress party, remarked that on February 14th, 2014, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh committed to granting special category status to the newly formed state of Andhra Pradesh for a period of 5 years. He informed that BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu responded by stating that if the BJP came into power, they would extend it for 10 years. Two months later, Narendra Modi reiterated this promise in the sacred city of Tirupati. He further added that for the past decade, the outgoing Modi government has failed to take any action on this front.

In December 2023, the Congress party won 64 out of 119 seats in the Telangana assembly, allowing them to form the government. This ended a decade's rule of K Chandrasekhar Rao's BRS. With the Congress back in power, the BRS' long dominance is challenged and the party is determined to make a comeback. On the other hand, the BJP has also tried to solidify its ground here. This sets the stage for a heated three-way election battle in Telangana.
