Home Minister Amit Shah sounded the clarion call for Tamil Nadu Assembly election during a meeting with BJP workers on Sunday. The senior politician also fired a fresh ‘corruption’ salvo at the ruling DMK regime — citing several instances including the Rs 4,600 crore sand mining scam. Shah insisted that the “people of Tamil Nadu” would bring about a change in administration when elections were held in 2026.

“The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu claims that Amit Shah cannot defeat the DMK…he is correct in one sense. However it is not Amit Shah who will defeat the DMK. It is the people of Tamil Nadu who will bring about that change,” he said.

Shah alleged that the “corrupt” rule of DMK had affected several segments of society including the poor people and urged his party members to resolve to dislodge the MK Stalin-led Dravidian party government from the seat of power. The Home Minister said he has participated in elections across the country and understands the pulse of the people…and remained fully confident that the people of Tamil Nadu would uproot the DMK government this time.

“The DMK government has crossed all limits of corruption…the DMK government was involved in a Rs 4,600 crore sand mining scam, which has severely impacted the lives of the poor…I challenge Stalin ji to provide a clear and transparent account of the commitments they made to the people. Additionally, the rampant corruption in the sale of illegal alcohol has led to the tragic loss of many lives, particularly among the underprivileged,” he alleged.
