Tensions along the India-Pakistan border have intensified, with Pakistani forces allegedly targeting the Shambhu temple in the Jammu region, reported ANI. The incident is reported to have occurred amid a spike in cross-border hostilities following India’s recent military retaliation, referred to as ‘Operation Sindoor’, and a rise in ceasefire violations by Pakistan.
Though more details are still awaited, initial reports suggest that Jammu‘s Shambhu temple — an important religious site in the area — was struck as part of a broader pattern of attacks on civilian infrastructure and religious landmarks.
ANI reported that the SDRF, local police, administration, and other agencies have reached the spot and cordoned off the area around and near the temple. As per the SDRF personnel, no casualty has been reported.
A local told ANI that many people visit the Shambhu temple in the morning but this day there were less people as air sirens was activated. The Jammu Police is said to be retrieving projectile fragments from the area.
