The security forces neutralised eight Naxalities in an encounter that took place on Saturday morning according to the police. The gunfight started around 8:30 am in the forest that comes under the jurisdiction of Gangaloor police station.

The encounter happened when a joint team of security personnel was out on an anti-Naxalite operation.A senior police official confirmed the incident and stated that the operation is still underway, with further details awaited.

The joint operation was carried out by a combination of local security personnel, including the District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force (STF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the CRPF’s elite unit CoBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action).

The operation was launched on Friday after intelligence reports indicated the presence of Naxalite cadres from the ‘West Bastar division’ in the area.
