Athena Behavioural Health has raised ₹10 crore in equity funding from Darius Pandole & Associates and its existing promoters. Darius Pandole, an investor in India’s private equity sector, participated in the funding round. The funds will be used to support Athena’s plans to expand its mental health and addiction treatment services to additional locations across India.
Athena currently operates four treatment centers in Delhi NCR with a capacity of more than 100 beds. Its services include psychiatric, psychological and de-addiction care. The company was founded in 2021 by Dr. Shradha Malik and Rohit Malik.
Dr. Ashish Mittal leads clinical oversight at Athena. His responsibilities include establishing standard operating procedures, clinical audits and training programs for psychiatric and therapy teams.
As part of its expansion strategy, Athena plans to:
Establish centers in additional states across India.
Launch satellite outpatient clinics in urban and remote areas.
Partner with public sector units (PSUs) and other institutional bodies to expand service delivery.
Explore international opportunities in underserved markets.
Over the next two to three years, Athena also plans to scale its clinical workforce and invest in digital services including remote therapy, aftercare and relapse prevention tools. “The funding will help increase our reach to new regions, including the Northeast and South,” Dr. Shradha Malik, founder and CEO, said in a statement.
Athena serves both direct-to-consumer and institutional clients. Its B2B clients include PSUs such as ONGC. Altus Global Advisors was the exclusive financial advisor for the transaction. Economic Laws Practice (ELP) acted as legal counsel.
