MSME Ministry cleanliness drive: Under the government’ special drive to dispose of pending matters — Special Campaign for Disposal of Pending Matters (SCDPM) across ministries and departments, which focuses on the disposal of public grievances, references from the members of Parliament, cleanliness drive, and weeding out scrap and old documents, the MSME ministry informed that it has achieved 50 per cent of its intended target. 

The ministry noted that under the first half of the 3.0 version of the campaign, which concluded on October 15 last year, along with its other subordinate offices etc. such as Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Coir Board, National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC), etc., it has reviewed 2,450 out of a total of 6,835 physical files and removed 635 out of 1,300 files under record management system.

Moreover, pertaining to the closure of e-files during the period, the ministry said 59 e-files out of 290 files have been reviewed/closed.

With respect to the cleanliness drive, 270 out of 548 cleanliness campaigns have been conducted with the help of subordinate offices/field offices of the ministry. The ministry said that it has earned a revenue of Rs 10.01 lakh after disposing of the redundant material or scrap during this period.

In addition, the National Institute of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises under the ministry has adopted a practice of collecting fallen tree leaves from its campus to make compost manure for their campus plant habitat usage.

Under Special Campaign 2.0 last year, the ministry reviewed 73,885 physical files and weeded out 32,000 files. Similarly, the ministry had reviewed 512 e-files and closed them. The ministry had cleared 54 public grievances, 110 state references, 34 references from MPs, and 6 references from the Prime Minister’s Office. The ministry had also earned Rs 6.91 lakhs by disposing of the scrap.

The prime objective of the campaign was to ensure the disposal of pending matters in government offices and as a result strengthen internal monitoring mechanisms, training officers in the record management and digitization of the physical records for improved record management.
